The sixth sense
The art of clairvoyance is a constant and hotly debated topic. Science does not officially recognize one who is clairvoyant and tends not to believe that a human being can in fact be clairvoyant.
What is a clairvoyant? Professors and believers of parapsychology think that one can have the psychic ability to sense what the usual five human senses cannot. Some argue that if humans only utilize 10-15% of our brain capacity then why cannot there be the reality of those with paranormal ability.
They argue that cats and dogs seem to be able to “sense” an earthquake hours before it actually occurs and to this day not one scientist can explain this general accepted truism regarding animals.
The ability of clairvoyance and/or being a psychic should not be confused with those who are defined as persons having retro-cognition ability for there is a slight difference, although the latter has been more difficult to prove. Retrognition is the ability to understand or have experienced something that has already passed, an event that one the one claiming to be utilizing retrocognitive ability. Retrocognition only focuses on the past, what has happened, whereas a clairvoyant or a psychic is deemed not to have time continuum limitations as such. As the old quote notes, “For every action there’s a reaction,” and this is no difference with retrocognitiion as there is also the ability of precognition. Precognition is given more time and study because a scientist of person studying a person with precognitive abilities can for example ask them, “what will happen on Oct 1 of 2012 “ and a “true” precognitive person should be able to give at least a partial answer. There are a few movies that have focused on persons with precognitive ability.
Further along the paranormal trial is an ability called remote viewing. If a person claimed to have remote viewing ability then one could hide an orange behind a wall at about 10 paces away and the person with remote viewing, not being able to visually see the orange, could tell the witness that he/she has an orange behind the wall. Science tends to refute remote viewing due to lack of strong evidence that supports such extra sensory perception. Extra sensory perception is also used for those that are mediums. A Medium occupies a very different place in the world of the paranormal and psychic behaviors in that those with medium powers or ability claim to be able to contact spirits or beings that normal humans cannot see or hear. A medium is one who possesses a very focused slice of extra sensory perception in the form of being able to contact spirits from other worlds.
Whether one is a clairvoyant, psychic or medium these are all categories of the paranormal that those in parapsychology have studied for many years. Many believe it is only a matter of time before psychic abilities will be dissected, understand and respected by all. In the areas of direct benefit it humans those with such psychic abilities could assist us in regard to earthquakes, floods or maybe even assignations of world leaders. Either way, those in parapsychology will most likely continue their work in the paranormal until they can prove to everyone that such talents beyond the normal five senses exist.
